Ingredients

The ingredients needed are simple. One bag of your favourite frozen french fries, and salt and pepper.
How to Make Frozen French Fries in an Air Fryer
Preheat your air fryer at 380F. Once preheated remove the basket from the air fryer and pour in the frozen french fries. You don’t want to overcrowd the fries, keep them mainly in a single to two fries deep layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer you may need to work in batches.

Place the basket into the air fryer and cook at 380F for 8 minutes. Shake basket in order to flip the fries over and place back into the air fryer and cook for another 6-8 minutes or until they are crispy and golden brown to your preference.
Once the air fryer frozen fries are done cooking immediately sprinkle them with salt and pepper. If you wait too long before adding the seasoning it won’t stick as well to the fries.
You can keep the fries warm in the oven at 250F while you cook another batch. After your last batch you can place all the fries in the basket and cook for a minute or two just to make sure they are all piping hot and ready to serve.

Notes
- Cooking times will vary depending on the size of the fries, ie. shoe string will cook faster than wedges. If you fill the basket too full and there isn’t enough hot air circulation in the air fryer your fries will cook slower and will not be as crispy on the outside.
- Be sure to add the salt and pepper right after cooking. The hot oil on the fries helps the salt and pepper stick to the fry.
FAQs
- Should I spray the fries with oil before cooking? You can spray them with oil if you like. Some people spray the frozen fries then sprinkle with salt and pepper and then cook. The oil allows the salt and pepper to stick to the frozen fries, but frozen french fries already have a coating of oil on them (it’s just solid due to freezing), and I don’t find it necessary to add more (more calories – who needs them?). If you quickly add salt and pepper once the fries finish cooking, the hot oil present on the fries will allow the salt and pepper to stick.
- How do you store leftovers? I find that fries are best served warm, they are never as good when you reheat them. But if you must, you can put them in an air tight container in the fridge for 3-5 days. When you are ready to reheat them, put them in a preheated air fryer for about 3-4 minutes.
